Description

in Honda & Inouye, 1995 Single-celled , free-swimming flagellates with a multilayered external cell covering (theca); cells reniform, dorsally often convex , ventrally with a furrow subtending the flagellar insertion and extending obliquely anteriorly ; 2 unequal flagella , inserted side by side on ventral surface ; single chloroplast, with a pyrenoid transected by a pair of thylakoids; eyespot lacking; marine, monospecific genus.
