Stockwell , DeYoe , Hargraves & Johnson , 1997 in DeYoe et al. , 1997 Solitary coccoid cells, spherical or subspherical ; with or without a cell wall ; single parietal chloroplast with a stalked pyrenoid ; flagellate cells and cysts unknown; marine planktoni c organ ism forming dense blooms in coastal PELAGOPHYCE embayments ; monospecific genus. (See DeYoe et al. , 1995 , 1997; Villareal et al ., (1998). al. , 1997. (Fig . 3). Cells 2.5-5 11m in diameter.
