Description
(after The cell body is enclosed in an irregular homogeneous capsule ; axopodia emerge through small pores. The capsule tapers into a short, conical stalk . The type species , C mereschkovskii, was described from a marine habitat, but has not been recorded subsequently. A second, freshwater species, C. brachiopus, produces zoospores with one flagellum .
