Test free , regular in shape with no excrescences and forming either spherical or ellipsoidal lump or circular disc. Consistency f e It- like and surface slightly shaggy. Most species have a 2 types of xenophyae; central part of test contains one kind (primary xenophyae) remainder of the test contains another kind (secondary xenophyae). est In all known species secondary xenophyae are tta siliceous sponge spicules . Occurrence: Indian Ocean, depth range 11 58-4 730 m. Psammetta- like organisms have been photographed at 7 6 6 5- 7710 m depth in the New Britain Trench (SW Pacific). Refs. Schulze (1906. 1907a) , Tendal (1972), Lemche et al. (1976) . brown in color and of soft to firm consistency w i th either a slightly shaggy or felt-like surface. Primary xenophyae foraminiferal tests, secondary xenophyae sponge spicules. Yellow granellare branches sometimes conspicuous on test surface .
