Description
Tendal , Swinbanks &Shirayama , 1982 Tubular test is unbranched , or bifurcates, or anastomoses to form polygonal network. Tube w a II consists of 1 or 2 distinct layers of xenophyae . Tube contains single , sometimes bifurcating granellare strand and dichotomously branching , sometimes anastomosing stercomare strings. Occurrence : Northeast Atlantic , 4550-4845 m, western Pacific , 6440-8260 m. EA straight tube, 0.5-1 .0 mm diameter and light grey in color, which sometimes bifurcates and fragments very readily. Wall composed of poorly cemented xenophyae with thicker inner layer composed of silt-sized mineral grains and outer , finer-grained layer; 1-4 ridges run longitudinally on inside of wall. Other species : There is at least one undescribed species in which the tube branches and anastomoses to form a polygonal network (Swinbanks, 1982) . Ref. Tendal et al. , (1982) . Brady, 1884) .
