Description

Test free , of firm to doughy consistency and easily broken. Lumpy, irregularly rounded in form and composed of numerous anastomosing branches . Occurrence : Atlantic , Pacific , and Indian Oceans, 3660-4829 m. brown in color, of firm but slightly elastic consistency , and up to 70 mm diameter. Test has convoluted surface and is composed of anastomosing branches 1 .5-5 mm diameter which delimit open spaces 1-6 mm diameter. Xenophyae are exclusively radiolarian tests.
