Description
Cells with arcuate ends , possessing a long furrow but lacking a gullet. The inner periplast component is a sheet, whereas the surface component consists of an imbricate layer of heptagonal rosulate scales complemented with overlaying and interdispersed fibrils . The periplastidial compartment has a single boat- shaped chloroplast with thylakoids arranged in loose aggregates of three, with a dorsal central pyrenoid , which is not traversed by thylakoids and 1120 CRYPTOMONADI a nucleomorph . Chloroplasts contain phyco- erythrin Cr-545. Marine (Hill, 1991 b). c p pp pauca. Note the absence of a furrow and the presence of hexagonal periplast plates (PP).
