Description
Cells actively motile ; slightly dorso-ventrally compressed, ovate in lateral view with both anterior and posterior rounded ends, elliptic in ventral view; a furrow is lacking , a tubu lar gullet extends posteriorly from the vest ibulum . Periplast consists of an inner sheet and a surface component of large , longitudinally oriented and CRYPTOMONADI irregular, crystalline plates. The periplastidial compartment contains a single chloroplast with a pyrenoid not traversed by thylakoids and a nucleomorph situated anterior to the pyrenoid . Chloroplast contains Cr-phycoerythrin 54 5. Marine (Hill and Wetherbee , 1990). irregular surface components of the periplast (SPC) and the absence of a furrow .
